Here at Carpet & Tile Mart we understand the needs of our commercial customers. We also understand laminate flooring; we’ve been selling it since it was introduced to the market in 1994. Commercial laminate is a durable, easy to maintain and affordable option in commercial flooring. Commercial laminates are engineered to withstand the wear and tear from commercial environments, while offering the look, feel and sound of real hardwood without a lot of maintenance.

Laminate flooring has come a long way in the 15 plus years since it was introduced in the United States, especially in the commercial department. New locking systems and pre-installed backing shorten installation time. More durable wear layers and microbeveling at the edges of planks reduce wear and scratching, extending the life of the product. For instance, Armstrong makes a laminate floor with an HDF core that acts as a moisture barrier, and Alloc offers a product with an aluminum locking system and wax sealed edges.

Commercial Laminates are more durable than wood and vinyl products in terms of wear and impact and never require buffing, waxing or refinishing. The construction of these products allow for quicker, less expensive installation than real wood and glue down products; some laminates even having the capability to be installed over most existing finished floors.

Commercial laminate is a great flooring answer to a vast amount of situations, especially those where a floating floor is necessary, such as over concrete or an existing floor. These applications can range from doctor’s offices, to salons and spas, gift shops, hallways and corridors, cafeterias and dining areas, hotel rooms, offices, sales floors, elevators and museums.

Laminate floors are actually very green or “eco” friendly commercial flooring options. Almost all laminates are made with either recycled to quickly renewable materials, it isn’t hard to find one that has been manufactured in the USA, and most offer some kind of LEED credit.
